Well it’s now spring and wouldn’t you know it it’s snowing outside. So I sat in front of a lump of black clay until it spoke to me. And it cried out ladybug. So that is what is now firing in the oven. Eight cute little ladybug pendants. Four in blue and four in red. Yes there are blue ladybugs. One species is commonly known as the Steelblue Ladybug introduced to New Zealand from Australia in 1899 to 1905. There are over 300 different kinds of ladybugs in North America and they come in a variety of colours, red, orange, blue, yellow, white and pink. So if these little fellows turn out after firing I may just have to make the whole range of colours.
Well, I thought I should update this blog with the next step of the Spruceland Sprites. I finally have clothes on Grampy Sprite. Haven’t named him yet but that will come later. This was my first real attempt at hands and feet. They’re not bad. As I type he is sitting in the oven for the final bake. He will then be antiqued and varnished. I will might put him on My Etsy site when he is finished. I haven’ decided yet. We’ll see how he looks when he is all done. I may not be able to part with him.
Well if you happen to follow me on Twitter you will know that I had a store cancel an order and I had new supplies arriving any day. So yes, I felt sorry for myself but thanks to a friend who reached out from Facebook I am refocused. I went for a late lunch and ran into my someone who is opening up a new gift shop just up the road from where I used to work. I took a chance and talked to them about my products and she jumped at the opportunity to see my stuff. She gave me her business card and we set up a time for a preview. She is opening later this month so just in time for the holiday season. Wahoo. How great is that.
Needless to say I will have more posts for my blog in the coming days.
Cheers for now,
